How a Skateboard Idea Sparked Our Family Clothing Brand
Sometimes big ideas start with small conversations.
This fall, our oldest son, Kade, was talking about how he wanted a skateboard for Christmas — not just any skateboard, but one with his own design on it. We started tossing around ideas, and before long, Kade imagined a great white shark wearing a crown. It made us all laugh, but the more we talked, the more we realized it actually sounded pretty cool — something you could picture on a shirt or a skateboard deck.
That one moment got us thinking.
If Kade could dream up something that fun, what if we could help him make it real? The next day, I started researching how to get his design printed on a shirt. That simple Google search sent me down a rabbit hole of print-on-demand, fabric options, and design files. Within a few weeks, we had our first test print — and that was the start of what would become Jolly Co Creations.
But it didn’t stop there.
Pretty soon, our other two boys started chiming in with their own ideas. One wanted tractors. Another wanted monsters. Suddenly, our kitchen table was covered in sketches, doodles, and wild suggestions. Every idea had a story behind it — a memory, a favorite toy, or something they saw that day.
That’s when we realized what Jolly Co could be — a way for our family to create together, turning their imaginations into designs other kids would actually want to wear.
Now, every shirt starts the same way: a spark from one of our boys, a quick sketch, and a conversation about colors and details. From there, we refine each design to keep it playful, high-quality, and made for the kind of everyday adventures kids actually have.
We print on premium fabrics like Bella + Canvas, Rabbit Skins, and Gildan, so every piece feels soft, durable, and ready for anything. Each order is printed in small batches right here in the U.S. — no mass production, no shortcuts, just family-inspired designs made with care.
What started as one shark with a crown has turned into a growing collection of creative, family-made designs — from tractors to turkeys, snowmen to sunshine.
Thanks for being here from the start of our journey. We can’t wait to share what our little creators come up with next.
